i always thought you had to use a turn signal no matter what, even if you're in the left turn lane at a light. until the other day i saw a cop just chillin there...then turned. so now im wonderin, if im in a dedicated right/left turn lane do i need to signal?

Two situations are mandatory to signal:

1) Starting from a stopped (parked) position

2) Changing lanes

From there, a signal is only required if you may affect another driver when you move, so if there is no immediate traffic, you are not required to signal.

Of course, a defensive driver will signal everything, and the officer was taught this if he received the same training I did. It doesn't set a good example, does it?

not at all. im really gonna start writing down car numbers of every cop that pisses me off. nobody ever pulls THEM over. like when a cop speeds to catch up then tailgates to check you plates....am i allowed to slam on my brakes?

nobody ever pulls THEM over.

That's not true either. I've done it and I know others that have as well, especially when they begin to drive their personal vehicles like they were marked cruisers.

Cruiser tickets generally show up post collision. It's private vehicles that attract tickets while they are still moving.

is it not the responsibility of the person behind you to keep a safe distance.

if not, why is it that in a personal situation icbc holds the rear ender (person behind) 100% responsible.

its your responsibility to keep yoru distance from what is infront of you, you have no control of whats behind you. well you do, but that seems to infract speeidng tickets
