My T-56 is making a lot of noise the clutch pedal is released or releasing. A chattering noise when in gear and in the process of releasing and in neutral with the clutch released. some have told me it could be the throw out bearing, but it sounds worst than that. Does anyone have any idea? Also, when in neural with the clutch released, the tranny makes a raspy noise when I rev the engine. Thanks.

PS. Know any good tranny shop with good price?

At first I was thinking its a clutch disk slipping. the 'chatering' noise is often caused by that, but if the trans is making new sounds then it could be the transmission.

I would check the fluid first, make sure its still red and see if theres any metal bits in it.

My T5 is having some similar problems.

It's making a clattering noise when I first start up and the car is in neutral with the clutch releast, though it does go away after 1 minute or some.

I'll check for the trans fluid and such.

Could it be because it's a 350tpi swap running with a stock t5?

On the plus side i do have a spare t-56 lying around, but i don't really wanna do a swap just now.

If it's making like a high pitched rattling noise with the clutch pedal RELEASED, then you'll probably need to lubricate the pivot ball that the clutch fork rests on.

If it's making that noise while pushing in the clutch pedal, then your release bearing is probably fucked. If it's making a creaking noise or something similar, then you'll probably need to grease the shaft that it slides on.

Either way, you're pulling out the tranny. Might as well do the clutch and resurface the flywheel while you're at it. Unless if your clutch is really new. If it is new, and if you got someone to do the labour, go back and get the work warrantied.

It's not a really a high pitched noise, it only happens when I start up the car and release the clutch in neutal. But strangly it goes away in a min or so.

It doesn't look like I'll be doing the swap after all :p

I totally agree with what you are saying, I just think it's a little beyond my mechanical abilities for now :ohboy:

I'll just have to becareful with the T5.

Thanks though!
