hey guys, 2 weeks ago i installed a cd player in one of my work vans, its a 1990 Safari, or astro, i think safari.. anywyas
i used a test light to test the power wires, i put it in and it came on with the ignition but funny thing is, if u turn the lights on, to the van the cd player turns off.. and if u turn the lights off it comes back on.. i think i hooked up to the light control for the stock deck..
question is does anyone know a web site that would tell me which wires are for what behind the dash.. like which is constant power.. as apposed to the light control..
any help is apprechiated
oh ps the wire is not yellow!! ;D
but ya.. thanks

if you wanted you could run a wire to each side of the solenoid that would elimate all the guess work...but you wouldnt be able to listen to it with the car off

check your ground wire for power with your lights on
if it does run a new ground

you usualy dont need to hook up to the dimmer wire when installing a aftermarket deck, use your test light to make sure that your constant power stays constant, but it's probably the remote wire thats the problem (acc.) cuse the dimmer wire, when turnning on the lights, dims the stereo lights then the remote turn on gets too little currant. If the constant is ok find another remote wire. Use your test light and turn the ign. switch backward to see when you get power

http://www.installdr.com has some good stuff for wiring guides on almost any car. No astro vans or safaris though, but pretty much anything else
