if you're just putting a regular shift kit in to an old beat up 700r4 you will more than likely break it. if your transmission was recently rebuilt possibly with stronger parts then yeah get a kit and enjoy the tight firm shifts.

well theres different types of "shift kits" u can get a new valve body which is pretty pricey , or u can go through the valve body and put different springs in it. u can also get a module that will increase the line pressure and cause stiffer shifts but i dont know if they have those for 700R4

shift kit is really easy just make sure you follow the steps especailly with the check balls and the torque sequence for the valve body bolts, best to do it in a couple steps to make sure but yah, its really easy and you could get a shift kit for like 45-50 bucks

Ive had my shift kit for over 2 years now without any problems. If you've got an auto I highly recommend it. It was only $45 bucks and was one of those mods that make you say "I cant believe Ive driven without this, I should have done this along time ago."

If you want a decent improvement in a 700R4, I had the Trans Go stage I, corvette servo and .500 boost pump installed. And reputable tranny shop should be able to supply you with the parts, and it's definitely worth it. You may have to have a new governor put in (or could have been completely coincidental) as my shift RPM's moved up by about 500rpm, little 305 doesn't like 6000rpm.

isnt that exactly what the corvette servo is supposed to do?
