What you guys are doing with the dipstick? Are you using a LOKAR or OEM? I cant for the life of me get the OEM one to seal ((even with high temp. silicon)) I got a new OEM dipstick to try to see if it fits a little more snug.

So your telling me you zap strap your dipstick to the header pipe. Plastic and heat...not good! I was thinking more along the lines of routing.

LOKAR. Considering it but decided that Id try the $15 OEM one first. I think my problem must be that the tube portion that enters ths block is out of round. The way Edelbrock has you bolt the dipstick to the exhaust pipe just plain sucks. Usinf the one clamp around the pipe and clamping it to a second clamp around the dipstick just looks like ass and over time ((just like mine)) the first clamp must stretch or something cause no matter how I position it or tightely I crank the screw it still slides arounfd like a bitch.

looks like edelbrock is making up for their lack in engineering quality.

my bro's headers are worth what he paid for them, I've seen some way worse ones then the edelbrocks

Iam happy with my purchase headers and y pipe and bolts, 160$+250$ for KOOL KOAT, Steve what did u guys pay again i think like 400$ so i'll definatly take my koating and lose the super good dipstick clamp. LOL My koating will last longer than my car prolly.LOL But hey granted u did what u had to do.

PS. OPEN TES Edelbrocks sound like Nascar I luv shooting flames cept for when they come dangerously close to my oil Pan.LOL

Not saying that they're not.* *But I've also seen way nicer headers for just a bit more. I'm also not just talking about the finish or the look or whatever it is. Pay close attention to the edelbrocks and you'll see the flaws.

I used to own a set of TES when they were just out on the market.* *I've also seen a newer set, and I've seen some MILD improvements here and there.* But not enough for me to want a set anymore... personally, I'd save up an extra paycheque and spend an extra $100 and change for a nicer set that DEFINATELY flows better.

Open headers is fun for sure! Ran mine arounfd the block a few times and the best part was when at a cruise of like 60kmh you can kinda sneak up on people on the side walk and you just sound like a loud car...then when your like 20' from them you punch it and watch them run lol. I agree with Adrian. If I could do it again Id probably spend a little more on a different set. Dont get me wrong...havent had any issues since I installed them years ago but I just cant stand the routing of the passanger side. I did manage to stop my leak with a new dipstick tube from GM but the clamp Edelbrock uses is crap. I guess with the in and out of the tube it has changed shape lol and the portion that enters the block has been worn down so it was no longer an interference fit.
Adrian....what headers do you run and which do you like?
