Is this t-5 gonna handle the 350 i just built and dropped into my car? It should only be as much power as a 305 tpi and they had those withs 5-speeds 215 hp or so. But the torque will be outragous.

So the question is, if i feed it to her, will she explode and throw 4th gear into the side of my head? (lol j/k)

What year is the T-5? World Class units were installed in 1988-up V8's and they're rated at 330 ft-lbs.

If you don't power shift the T-5 should hold together for awhile just fine.

i have a 91 rs w/ the t-5,
last summer i removed the 305 boat anchor and replaced it with a fresh rebuilt 1974 4 bolt main 350 w/approx 400hp.
ive put about 2000kms on the trans with the new motor and the tranny is holding up fine. but u never know shew could blow any time. sometimes i power shift, but im usaually pretty good to it. i was told the trans wouldnt hold at all. im suprised ..i guess its a wc t-5, i never knew there was a wc t-5 untill now!!

yeah it would be and 400 hp you are border line on breaking it, throw some NOS in the mix and you'll break it right away... depending on traction of course

thats what i figured, im still running my stock one tire fire 3:08 rear end.my yokohama tires are also pretty hard i dont have any traction.. but since i did the engine swap it usually snaps both rear wheels loose.i want to go to the super t-10
or a m22 or somthing. if i do 3:73 rearend and get some traction, that trans will be TOASTY!!

I replaced my 305 with a 350 in 2002. I only have an open diffed 3.08 rear, but I am running 255 rubber. The T-5 (world class) is still together, though the fourth gear synchro is gone (I tend to shift without using the clutch.) The softer you shift the longer it'll last. A good clutch would probably help take some of the abuse. It's not the horsepower hurts a tranny, its the huge torque spike when you grab the next gear, like going from first to second. I broke a main tranny mount one time, and broke a bolt out of the torque arm to tranny mount another time, but the tranny hasn't fallen out yet.
