ok, i have a RF HU which is 40Wx4 (25W RMS X4) and it has a sub out and also 2 additional speaker outputs, out the back...
i'm hooking up the sub, and also have 2 6x9 boxes, but want to know how to hook them up, and how to power them... do i use the additional 2 outputs, and just plug and play (but will they have power...), or do i connect them to the sub/amp to get power/signal, or do i wire them in a different way.
any help would be greatly appreciated

unless you have a 4channel amp you cant run your sub and 6X9's off of the amp.
you can just use the rear speaker outputs off of the headunit. Green and green/black, purple and purple/black and run them to your 6X9's.
it is a general consensus (sp?) in the car audio world that you want most of your sound coming from in front of you because of how the human ear is designed perceive sound. For instance, when you hear something in the distance, instinctively you turn your head to face it so you can hear it better you dont turn your back to the sound because your ears dont work as well that way. In other words, you will get better sound putting good speakers in the front and running little or no rear speakers.
Farthermore, an oval shaped speaker such as your 6X9s have a difficult time reproducing good sound because of how they are designed. Most serious competitors will only use an oval speaker if they are forced to.
Now, with that said. Im not saying your stereo will sound like crap by any means but there's always room for improvement. Good luck

you'll need an amp to power them, if your using a 4 channel amp to power your sub you could hook your 6x9's up to the same amp if not you'll need 2 amps

Wire your 6X9's into your alternator and have the pulley power the amps, then wire the sub into all the speaker outputs on the amp (more outputs you wire it too makes the sub have more power to it). Then get an adapter and wire the amp directly to your front speakers, which in turn should be wired to your deck through your battery. Having the amp wired directly to your front speakers will also make them louder while saving the output on your deck so you can hook up another sub.
