View Full Version : I need new suspension
I went over a speed bump today, nothing out of the ordinary , nice and slow, and i hear all this noise that sounded like rubbing. I was like wtf. and assumed it was my suspension then when i got home, i pressed down on my car and it still made the noise and after i let go of the car it didn't just come up and stop it like bounced one more time. SO, who knows how much new suspension will cost me?
I will be putting in sportlines.
New shocks and struts?
Lowering your car isn't always the answer.
My car's exhaust rubs on every fucking bump at some malls/parking lots.
Now the part of the exhaust that's right behind the front wheels is flattened.
well the suspension isn't as stiff as it used to be, and its stock from 1992 so i guess its time for new stuff.

I went Prokit and Tokico Blues Luv the ride and the stance gunna be buying my Bro's Boyds from and then i'll see how much i really luv my stance. Even with Prokit my 3 in Y pipe drags on almost every speed bump.
Go konis if you can afford it. Definetly worth the extra penny. Day and night difference.

I need new shocks aswell. I've had koni yellows in a previous car. loved it. But they are sooo exspensive.
Ill have to figure out a more affordable option. I got Iroc springs, just needs shocks next.
How much are these expensive koni's everyones talkin about?

I would go with the Prokit/koni sports Package Zoran your car will sit like mine maybe a lil better because u have Zr1's. I was thinking illuma Tokico's they were the next stage up but for 300$ more than that u could have adjustable coil over tokico's which if i had the extra coin at the time i would have been all over them. I stucvk witht he cheap al,ternative the Tokico blues i luv the ride for the $$$. they r basically a bit more $$ than Monroe shit but for the extra few bucks i wouldn't go back.

all good suggestions, i'm not the most knowledgeable about these things, however i did put a set of tokiko blues on my rs about 4 years ago and bang for the buck they're great. even now they're still tight and handling is good, i'm not carrying as much weight (due to the v6 engine) but if you don't want to spend alot of $ i think they're the way to go.
This really cought my eye
"Externally adjustable"
i like the sound of that.

Actually $420 is exactly what I paid for the stuff.I know all together it may not hold a candle to what some of you guys have but for myself I thought it was a good deal for what I need. The suspension in the car right now is completely stock from 1990 so I think this stuff should at least be a step up from that. :fingersx:

using a lowering spring with anything other then the konis will greatly hurt the performance of the car. the increased spring rates cant be dealt with with any of the non adjustables. the only viable one is custom valved bilsteins, other then that, koni if you care about handling/ride performace.

no kybs are poo, even for stock springs
SkyGuy@BishopSales
01-22-2007, 09:12 AM
KYB = poo
go for Koni, Tokico, Bilstein. Those are all good options. but stay away from KYB or Monroe or garbage like that.

koni, end all for these cars, tokico and bilstien for stock spring rates. custom bilstein revalves for lowering springs. SLP sells a combo modified

typically, KYB arent really good for any car..
I threw them in my Corrado, and I hated them.. I had H&R springs in it and I think the shocks/struts are already gone..
We had a new set put into a miata, and the next morning, there was a pool of oil under the car from one of the shocks.. it blew by itself.. pretty weak if you ask me.
You can get re-valved Bilsteins, also the sport shocks are self adjustable, theres dual valves inside the shocks that adjust to the terrain. they are a bit expensive, but well worth it, and they have a 3 year warranty, so thats pretty cool!

You paid an arm and a leg for them too though.
MonkeyWrench

no i still got my arm's and legs. you get what you pay for. i tryed to find a used set to get them rebuilt but i had to go new. and they will most likely out last the car. and if they do fuck up its way cheaper the second time around

Definitely tried and go used. As long as it is from the right person. Got my freshly rebuilt koni yellow SA's for $580 shipped from a road racer who decided to go with DA's
