what kind of things do you need to consider before nitrous...
what specs should you have in ur engine too handle without blowin ur engine to shit? becuase im kinda considering it.

just spray the shit out of it, im going to be spraying my car again, and maybe even on hypereutectic pistons like the one i previously broke* :D The instant torque from a 100+ shot is lots of fun* 8)

in a sbc you dont need any mods for a 100 shot other than to retard your timing and make sure your fuel pressure doesnt drop.
100 shot is very mild considering what some people are spraying to stock (bottom end) motors.

im running a 327, 9.8 compression its a brand new rebuild, with work down to the heads, and a beefier cam. how much retarding would i have to do... im running 8-10 degrees advanced

you can do what ever you wan't,
but I wouldn't if your gonna be pissed when a piston lets go

retard 2 degrees per 50 shot

apparenty yea...eric gained a nice bit of power on the dyno with one

if u gotta retard ur timing 6degrees for a 150shot wont ur engine run like shit till u use the nos?
it will be a little sluggish, but not too bad
Daniel Doerksen
09-22-2006, 12:56 PM
could u buy sum electronics that nock the timing back 6 degrees whne u hit the nitrous?
yes, an msd digital 6 plus will pull out however many degrees you want when it detects 12 volts, so you could wire it up to the solenoid, and then it would pull out the timing when the solenoid opens.
Daniel Doerksen
09-22-2006, 01:14 PM
that would be the way to go then :D

FI is a waste if you're building for power and not DD'ing. If it's already there, great, but I get the impression Ivan just wants to go fast. Keep the carb (well not the heap you have but A carb, Holley or Demon is best). Much cheaper in every way, and it'll definetely make you go fast.

you dont gain much power with fi, but its more tuneable. Most turbo guys run fi for this reason.
you'll see big budget dragcars some are FI and some are carb.

go with a holley...demon is shit

hoenestly demon is better, but by an amount that makes know difference, they arnt "shit" they are the same design as a holley, on with a few modifications that make it easyier to tune, etc. i got my demon for a grad pressent, if that didnt happen id say go holley, becuase of price,

Demons have had manufacturing issues which Holley did not, but that may have all been ironed out by now. Really, a Demon is just a "prettier" Holley, there really isn't even a difference in tunability. Sure, a lower end Demon comes with sight glasses in the float bowl and such, but you can get the same stuff in a higher end Holley that costs the same...so really, it's all advertising.

demons used to be better when they first came out with them, but now theyre mass produced and theres stories od finding metal filings in brend new carbs.

demon is the same basically as a holley just made with cheaper inferior materials.

TQ.......................HP.........
347 @ 4200 ... 361 @ 6100 ... Holley 4777 650 Carb Shop
338 @ 4400 ... 363 @ 6100 ... Speed Demon 650
336 @ 4000 ... 360 @ 6100 ... Holley 750 3310 JET Perf.
TQ .................HP same +/-1
343 @ 5000 ... 349 @ 6000 ... Q-J JET Perf. ADAPTER used.
328 @ 4800 ... 351 @ 6100 ... Holley 600
329 @ 3900 ... 351 @ 6100 ... Edelbrock 600 1405
327 @ 4000 ... 350 @ 6100 ... Edelbrock 750 1407
seems like holley took it on torque but lost it on hp, more torque then hp tho
the damn interents to slow to look for more facts its kinda a waste, seems like the speed demon is people preference, negatives and the metal filings found in the demons that need to be clean pre to operation, seems like there are alot more holey lovers then demon lovers but there are allot more holleys then demons, so it should be expected, but it seems liek most shops and magaizines preferr demons,
soooo w/e, i like my speed demon, but i havent had a holly when i get my gtech maybe ill spend the time and figure out whihc is better? ::)

berkenbos bought a brand new demon and it started leaking from the fuel bowls after being run for like 30 minutes.
blake in the blake malibu had a similar problem.
and countless other guys all over the world.
take a walk around the track next year and peak under the hoods of quicker cars....you hardly ever see a demon carb under there cause they're unreliable.
carbs are all about tuning. you can make a quadrajet outperform a dominator if you set it up accordingly

pros, billet baseplate and parts, uses all holley parts for interchangability, easy tune out of box. cons, leaky pos with avg performance. all stock carbs are crap though. its all about the modified 8)
