Get one of those cool ones, they look like 6 packs, i hear they are good. Like the commercial where the guy has one in his derby car then takes it out when the car is fucked and throws it in his 4x4. ::)

Thanks, but I ended up claiming warranty on my canadian tire peice of shit batt.
I'm still considering a second batt or would a cap be a better investment,
also I was considering putting a 4 gauge wire into link my alt. to my batt,
when I turn up my system my volts drop to like 9, and my amp is only pulling 18A, my alt puts out 105 amps I've load tested,
If what I just typed makes no sense it's not my fault I'm stoned

if you have that much of a voltage drop i think you have a pretty major problem...you might need a new batt....you coul also try upgrading your big three wires

2 things.. dont buy a cap!! they dont work worth a shit after a year and buying a second battery is a better idea, put it in your rear quarter panel, dont know if u can in verts ??#2 u need a alternator that gonna put out some more juice.. 2 summers ago i ran a wal;l with ten 10's and 3 marin batts including the one under the hood, i went through stck alternators ever 6 months,,

alt to batt
batt to ground
block to ground

as 5.0 killer stated, a cap is pretty much useless to anybody except people trying to make money selling them. To salesman they're the best thing in the world. I think you might need an alt repair kit or even a different alt from a wrecker. Adding more batts will cause farther strain on your alt and limit its life. Maybe you could get your current alt re-wound for higher output. Or if you really want to spend some money i have an email addy from a guy in the states who builds really nice custom alts. He did my 280 amp for $450 i think, and i havent had it drop below 15.2volts. Of course the stereo in the car now is only about 400 watts, im sure once all my stuff is in it will be dipping into the 13volt range

It's not the cap that kills alternators, it's the currant draw. A cap is just a small battery that is designed for unlimited cycles. Upgrading your alternator is the only way to go. Give Klaus at Abir automotive a call or check out Wrangler(http://www.wranglernw.com/)these guys build kickass alternators for cheap. Just remember to ask for the charging amperage at 12 volts when hot, alot of guys rate their stuff at 14+ volts cold and you end up getting what you already have. Upgrading all of you charging circuit with a heavier gauge wire will also make a huge improvment.
Just remember the the battery is only there to start the car, once started the alternator runs all of the elictrical system and stock ones a barely strong enough too run the car let alone a killer stereo.
