Rare Options

What kinda rare options have you guys heard of?


My buddy was parting out his Firebird and some guy came and was talking about that roof console in the middle that goes from front to back, and there is a flashlight that goes into there and aparently its a very sought after option. And people pay alot to whoever still has the light (i got the console and place for the flashlight but no light). Anyone have the flashlight?

camarosource.ca says in 1988 they made 4 1LE coupes.

Here are some rarer options on my IROC:

DX3 (stripe decal delete) : 1,895
G92 (Performance Pack.) : 5,252
C41 (standard heater) : 7,844
K05 (engine block heater) : 2,786

That's out of production of 96,000 Camaros 1988 I believe. The overhead console was a relatively rare option, like the ones above. When you think "well there was 5000-10,000 overhead consoles installed in Firebirds it's not that rare." If you think that 80-90k Firebirds were produced each year, then it becomes a relatively rare or sought after option.

I have the overhead console, with a working flashlight.

Thats about all that works on the damn thing too :) no map light and the button for the dome light is toast... oh well it's out of the car too cause It is right in the view line of the rear view.

yea i think i have a couple of those flashlights, i might sell for a reasonable price, i was actually waiting till the fbodys reached collector status then i was going to start pawning them off cause they will be even harder to find then.

the weird looking black thing on the bottom left is the flashlight. it slips into a slot in the console and sits flush.

Yeah I have one on my 88 IROC. They are pretty rare, I cant remember the numbers though. It required the ERS with equalizer I think.

ya but mines a sports coupe and they didnt make too many sports coupe convertibles :P dang it i had it replaced because i took it through the wash and they replaced it...should i just get a power attana put back u think? are the power attana parts still inside u think??

Depends who did it. Cause they could have left the motor in the fender, but if the aerial is gone, you have to replace the motor and antenna at the same time since it's a sealed unit. You will still have the proper wires and sending unit for it though.

holy, my Camaro has a sweet little flashlight just like the one in the pic on the roof console. My car is Camaro Z28 special flashlight edition!

one of my buddies just fixed up a Berlinetta, and it has that roof consol with ALL the accessories. Its kinda cool

They have a little pocket thats perfectly fit for todays cell phones. Wonder what it was for back then since cell phones could be used as weapons back then. ???
