A bit of a wiring problem...
When i bought my car, the old owner had placed the stock stereo in the trunk. I decided to place the stock one back into my car ( it's an old 69 firebird). I accidentally unplugged a black wire end that leads from the bulb that turns on the light for my fuel and spedometer guage. Its a fibre optic wire (with a cylindrical metal end as thick as the wire) that hooks into something else but I'll be damned if i can find out where that spot is again. So at the moment at night i cant see my speed and fuel guages. I learned a good lesson in being more gentle in the future but I cant seem to find out where this end goes to get power to turn this light on. I've looked at wiring schematics for the year of my car and can't seem to figure it out...any help would be awesome and greatly appreciated

I don't think your 69 bird has fiber optics in it,
post some pics

i'll try posting some pics up tomorrow. I have no idea what type of cable it is really, other than it's coming from my light bulb in my dash and it's probably gotta join somewhere to share power with something else ??? ...cig lighter etc...but cant find where it once was...i'm a total rookie at wiring.

it's likely my bro's 68 camaro has fibreoptic signal lights.
i'll check under my bro's dash and see If I can see the wire you're talking about.

here is a pic of the wire. On one end is the light bulb housing, and on the other end is the cylindrical male end. It's the cylinder end i cant find a home for.... :-\

It is a crude form of fiber optics, they used them alot back then. Some of the rarer cars have little signals on the tops of the fenders and they light up thru the fiber optics from the front park lights, same cars had them on the rear deck
