Worth the money for electic? Opinions?

pretty ease to run a line to the inside of the cab I would think,
for things like oil or fuel pressure, coolant temp etc, I'd want electric just cause I don't want a leak in side the cab,
some many old chevs got mechanical oil pressure gauges and leak oil into the cab

for mechanical fuel pressure its actually isolated so if it did start to leak it would not be fuel. neither one is more acc then the other i don't think.

i use mechanical for all my gauges.....nothing like a fucked sender for water temp or oil presure.....with mechanical you always know for sure.....just my .02

electric, cleaner, more mounting options, and safer for alot of apps. not so much boost but for fluids.

Yah think I'll prolly go mechanical, don't need any other gauges just afr and boost...

i have been told that te afr gauges dont read proper and if you try to set air fuel ratio to the gauge you will be lean...just from what i have heard ....

yes i am i worked in the machine shop at b&j parts for 2 yerars and we had a guy who raced a camaro on a road course and he melted down his engine 3 times and we traced it back to the fact that he was tuning for a perfect a/r with an autometer afr gauge....this is just one instance...im just throwing this out there for your info...im not sure all the perticulars but we(the machine shop)warantyed it 2 times but when we figured out the problem we voided the warranty...

buhahaha, he is an idiot then. you dont tune an afr off a guage. you need to properly tune the car. everyone knows those guages are narrow band. their version of stoic is 14:1 i believe. thats funny, he deserved it if you can justify the car running like complete ass, down on hp and running hot, but saying yea man its in the optimal cuz the guage says so hahahaha

what brand makes a good a/f guage ?

I went with full electric gauges. Way cleaner, just as accurate as they still have mechanical parts/sensors, but all of that is left under the hood and the electric side is in the car, makes it safer as well.

i'd say for boost, mechanical is great, the vacuum tube you run is tiny.
and for a/f, just get something with a wideband on it, and stick an extra o2 hole in your exhaust somewhere

its easier to run small electrical wires into the cab than mech lines, even 1/8 vacuum lines...try making a vacuum line have a 90* bend or tighter.

way to bring up old posts and i agree with goose
