hey I'm looking to buy a set of headers for my 95 trans am , Lt1 , just wondering how hard the install is , i had a guy live on my street b4 and he said it cost him $800 just for the install , he said they had to pretty much pull the engine out to get them in.this i cant see cause pretty much everyone has their headers done .also i thought his was an ls1 but my old man swears it was a 96 so i don't know.
I would like to here from anyone with a 4th gen thats got them done , hopefully some of u did them your selfs and can give me an idea , thanks

hoist is definately your friend. and it all depends on make and style like mid length or long tubes etc. pm iroc-z (adam) on the site here. he runs a shop called modern musclecar. they have great rates and e can install them for you for a great deal if you wish. its more of an annoyance then anything, some people crack a mount and pull the motor up a tad to amke clearance, definately coming in from the bottom is the way to be also.

none of its easy, if you got a/c etc. its like a 8-10 hour job on a hoist it seems, nightmare is being nice lol LTs are heaps of work, the other mid style ones are easy.

im probably gonna do it on jack stands. I hear its not too bad with the jackstands maxed out. Its got ac. I figure i will just pull the valve cover and alternator to clear up some room on the pass side. Appparently the hookers are the easyiest to install out of all the lt1 LT's...

next are true 3" duals w/ dynomax bullet mufflers, dump out before axle.

A 2.75” (stock) single system is good for a 310hp engine with zero loss…
A 3” Single system is good for a 370hp engine with zero loss…
A 3.5” Single system is good for a 503hp engine with zero loss…
A 4” Single system is good for a 657hp engine with zero loss…
A 2.25” dual system is good for a 457hp engine with zero loss…
A 2.5” dual system is good for a 513hp engine with zero loss…
A 3” dual system is good for a 812hp engine with zero loss…

ur makin 812hp now?

no, but when i rebuild it for next season, probly making 500 N/A at the crank+ nitrous dosent hurt anything running over kill exhaust, plus I want to piss the neighbors off :D

id rather do single 3.5 or dual 2 and have a shred of gronud clearance...maybe u lose it all with the headers anyway, i dunno
