Hey all!
I got a 1992 RS, 305 L03, V8
I've read the emissions post, and tell you the truth, I have no idea how to do most of the things you guys suggested. I'm 3 times over on CO and about 2 times over on HC.
I've put in a new Cat, which cut my HC down, but still not to a passing level. And my CO went 1 notch up. Any help before I spend 600$ on a conditional pass at some crappy AirCare workshop?
If you tell me to unplug the airpump and plug the vacuum hose into a what ever, I will tell you how to get a MAC Physical Address of a Network Card from an IP or how to convert an IP into a binary equivalent - basically I would not be able to do any of the things that are everyday for you guys. I'm still learning camaros, plus my car's engine bay is a disaster. But before I can put any mods and expensive things, I need to insure the car. Please help!

any codes in computer?(engine light) To check use a jumper wire and with key off jump slot "A" and "B" at the diagnostic port then turn the key to run position and count the engine light flashes. Long flashes = 10, short flashes =1.
eg: LONG LONG LONG, SHORT= code 31. Then see what the code means in the manual.

My AiRCare readings are
Before the cat was put in:
HC - 1.42 out of 0.5 MAX
CO - 24 out of 9.3 MAX
NOX - within the limit

After the cat was installed:
HC - 7.2 out of 0.5 MAX
CO - 25 out of 9.3 MAX
NOX - twice less, and within the limit

Havent checked any codes, scared of screwing up.

1, you can't screw anything up checking the codes....

2. I had similar problems to what you had... I started with no Cat, got one installed, still didn't pass.. I'd already done the 02 sensor.

3. I also replaced my plugs and wires(they were all platinum, had some funny gaps and you aren't supposed to regap platinum)

4. Filled it up with premium from mohawk (chevron/husky work too), stuck a thing of injector cleaner in there and ran 3/4 of a tank, stuck another full tank of premium in...

I passed, just barely....

Heh, yeh, I'm gonna have to change the o2 sensor 4 sure...
But this might have to do something with this:

2 words.
METHAL HYDRATE

Or do what some people do and loosen all the exhaust connections a little each(not noticably so it makes a farting noise and the leaks are clearly visible). Make sure the engine is warm, drive around for a while in 2nd to get the engine nice and warm. Keep it idling in the aircare lineup. And of course add methal hydrate. Just some suggestions........

add how much?
And I still think that my CO levels are too high to pass marginally, they're 3 times over a passing limit....
Gotta be soemhting wrong with a car, so I'm trying to get it fixed...

CO eh, that high probably means your burnung way too rich.
As for how much methal hydrate, it depends, i use about 1/3ish of the bottle I get. I forget the size of the bottle.

Yep, that seems to be the most popular answer, but how do I fix that?
o2 sensor change is number one answer, so I guess I'll hcange the o2.
Irocboy69 have offered to change the o2 sensor in his shop, but he didnt come online yet, but thats what I'm going to do, most likely...

check your coolant temp sensor as well. good thing to change
anyways only about 50 bucks from GM and super easy to install(right beside your t-stat housing). It will make sure that your car goes into closed loop mode and that proper amount of fuel is delivered

PS dont get aftermarket

If its only the driving test you failed, put studded tires on, then they wont make u do it ;)

Oh ya CHECK YOUR TIMING. retard it a bit to be safe then after air care, advance it back

1st. I have no idea how to retard/advance the timing...
2nd. My car 1992 so they ONLY do driving tests.
3rd. Coolant sensor eh?

For 1 and 2, I need it installed by someone else, I'm a web desingner, and I didnt have much experience with Camaro engine, duh.

it takes like 5 minutes or less to change an o2 sensor (providing you have the right socket ;) )

I've got one, the secret is to warm it up and soak it in WD40 first...
