i know 86 TPI is supposed to run at 195 degree's, but thats too hot for my engine (not a camaro motor). So, i was wondering if its a big deal that i use a 180 thermostat and if it will mess the computer up or anything? EX. run in open loop the enitre time thinking its not warmed up ????

will still go into closed loop with a 160 even if fan is always on.
(know from doing it)

no no, closed loop is a good thing. Thanks for replying guys, i'm going to go put that in right now, and ya i have 2 flex fans on my radiator, they used to be electronically controlled to come on at 200 or something but they failed in the summer so now its simply plug them in or don't plug them in.

the car goes into open loop, when your car is started cold its in closed loop

EDIT- never mind I'm an Idiot, open loop at start up, must be this dislexic(sp) thing I have

my camaro had issues with going in and out of closed loop with the 160 in it, when I put the 180 in it the problems went away
