My Game 7 Prayer
As the hours tick down slowly
Soon game seven will arrive,
Deciding for us our fate.
Are we dead or still alive?
We know there've been some screw ups,
Some mistakes made here and there.
Some folks around have trashed us,
All the same we just don't care.
To give to us this one game,
Though our playoffs have been rocky,
Is our prayer to you on this day,
The gods of playoff hockey.
Safe hands we pray for Louey,
Some puck luck for a twin.
A goal or two for Naslund.
Maybe that will help us win.
Make Burrows skate like lightning,
Make Cowan hit like thunder.
Let's take it to those Texans
And put those Stars down under.
Let Trevor be a hero,
Let Bren-Mo snap a quick one.
Let Salo crack a slapshot
Turco won't see where it came from.
Let the penalties be Star's ones.
Let our powerplay be brilliant.
Let us show them we can man up.
Let us show them we're resilient.
We ask not for a blowout,
Nor a shutout, just a win.
So this series can be over
And our round two can begin.
So tonight I'll wear my colours
And I'll cheer for my home team.
I'll hope the gods have listened,
Though it remains still to be seen
Good luck to us Vancouver,
