Ok, so this winter i had my headers off because i was replacing the gasket. So i bolted them back on, everything seemed fine. And today i noticed i have an exhaust leak right by the ... cylinder closest to the firewall, passenger side. I tightend the header bolts (one was like almost falling out) and i tightend the other one. Am i supposed to put Threadlocker or something on them?? The one bolt was being kind of weird, i would tighten it but when it grabbed it with my hand it seemed like it was moving a little.. although i couldnt tighten it anymore... please help. I could see the flames in the exhaust port through a space between the block and the header.. i tightened it and i can still see it a bit.. .

Sounds like a striped bolt.
On a side note, when a buddy of mine put a 350 in his 84 camaro he ran open STOCk exhaust manifolds. Just the manifolds, no y pipe or nothin. FLAMETHROWERS BABY

No do not use thread locker!!!... there is a new product out, im sure you could get it at lordco... its like a lockwasher for headers! cool stuff. made just for those weird header bolts... next time do not take the header right off... leave the front and rear bolt on, if you notice the front and rear holes on the gasket isn't really a hole it will let you slip on the gasket with out taking the headers off... just the middle ones come off, this also reduses the risk of cross threading the bolts... If you ever have them right out in the future check to see if the flanges are square.

but yes indeed check out those header bolt lockwashers out

i was thinking about going to gm and getting a new bolt.. or all new bolts.. how much could it possibly cost? 25cents a piece. Yeah when i put the gaskets in i left the front and back bolts in, and just slid the gasket down. maybe the flange is bent? who knows. i was going to buy new headers anyways. Anyone have some kicking around they dont wnat.

i have a pair... but i doubt they would fit on a 3rd gen... don't bother going to GM to get some bolts. they will just give you the same old OEM bolts u probably have now. Go to Bestbuy and pick up some ARP headerbolts there about 10bucks or something not sure, and pick up those header lockwashers.

first off what ever you do don't buy bolts from gm they'll charge you like 2 or 3 bucks each go to a place like pacific fasteners
as far as your header bolts coming loose, welcome to the world of headers, they all do that unless you have a 3/8'' flange then some times your lucky and they don't
my bro just pops his hood once a week and tightens his header bolts it's just something you have to do
unless you buy header locks

Anyone ever heard of double gasketing?? like i have the one header on tight as hell but it still leaks a bit. is it possible to double gasket?? This dude at budget muffler wouldnt fix it for me so he told me to just stick another gasket in. I need someone to come with me to get my exhaust done because i know nothing.
