Hey, new on the site but been told this is the place...
I've read numerous articles on the spline count on the axles for the 3rd gen cars. some say 26 all the way through, some say 28 all the way through, and some say 87, 88, and 90 are the change over years. Also some say it makes a difference from drum to disk. Anyone know what the real truth is? What I'm trying to do is find out the facts before I pop the cover off and need more parts. Will my option code plate tell me?
What I got is a daily driver project car with a 88 2.8l o/d auto car with drums and I have an auburn from a 4th gen with 28 spline cones. I'd rather go with 28 spline axles rather than trying to get 26 spline cones so, from personal experience anyone 88 V6 car with drum brakes, 28 spline axles?? Or do I have to take it apart? If 26, Anyone selling a set of 28's??
