aiight so i have the lovely task of replacing my intake gasket.

85 trans am with an '87 LB9 305 TPI

long story short:

-everything down to/including the intake is on the floor of my garage

-the vacuum hose that plugs into the top of the egr valve is cut.

I'm no whiz when it comes to engine stuff, i just thought i'd do a job myself for a change. I need to know what effects this broken hose has on an engine, and where the hell its replacement needs to be plugged into. (my guess is one of the plugs at the rear of the plenum)

help please!

-love steve.

p.s.

is there anything i should be doing/replacing while i have all this shit apart?

if something can be improved while i have it all open, i'll do it... within reason.

ok no one has responded in a bit so ill give you my best edumacted guess.

With a cut EGR valve you would have basically a vacuum leak, just gives you all that fun stuff (read not good).

As for replacing stuff while you have the intake off, that is all a matter of budget .... as a cam shaft upgrade wouldn't hurt ... if it was the shitty cam or the good cam, both could be improved with a nice new comp cams 12-402-4 cam 1500-5500 212in/218ex .444/.444 nice solid street cam, more lift with 1.6 rockers so on.

but it really all depends on your budget as that cam is probably 300 bucks plus good rockers so 600.

now if it is maintenance replace your looking it ..... not a clue I replace lots of stuff when I do.
