Went to court in Vanderhoof yesterday to dispite a speeding and seat belt ticket. The officer showed up so I plead guilty to speeding, but went to trial over the seat belt part. The officer gave his side of the story, saying that he radared me etc., and that he noticed the seat belt buckle was up beside my head. On cross examination I asked if when he walked up to my window whether I was then wearing my seat belt or not. He replied that he did not remember. I then gave my side and told how it was dusk (sun on horizon, lots of shadows), and how I was driving a grey truck with grey interior, including grey seatbelts, and I was wearing my grey jacket, and how the seat belt buckles is chrome, but so is the housing that the seat belt comes out of, so the officer could've easily confused them, and how he was pulled over to the far side of the road in his cruiser as I went by in a F250 4x4 heavy duty, it would've been very difficult for him to see in. I also said that I was wearing my seatbelt properly (with shoulder belt accross my chest) and that I always wear it. Judge decided in my favour.
