Engine Decals - long long project

Well it's been 3 years since I started this simple task and I finally got it finished! Part of the delay was learning the graphics tools and redrawing all the stuff I needed. It was a fun project actually ... and a cold weather project at that.

Anyways ... it's done! I have recreated the decal that adorns the top of the Player's engines. It is made from the top quality chrome foil with with quality ink. The colors nearly exactly match the original from the day. The graphics and lines are in most cases better than the original due to how the ink is applied today vs. 20 years ago. The decal is not a copy, but in fact complete re-drawn.

LOL ... of course I made up a few extra for those with Player's cars that are missing this decal!

My plan was to package up 2 at a time for people who are interested. One for your motor, and a spare in case it falls off.

I only had 26 made up, so that is 13 sets. I can get more made up if needed ... but pretty small group of people.

All the ones I have seen look exactly the same. Some of the quality of the original decals is poor. And depending what people used to clean their engines, the ink might have come off.

The one I drew up is best representation I could make using original letter head as a reference plus a rare unused engine decal. The quality of the originals is far from precise. The ink sorta ran a bit when it was silk screened.

MS Paint, it is the best graphics program after all.

Corel Draw. I needed a program that put everything into vectors and also used colors that a graphics shop would understand. I'm no expert at this, so it was a learning curve. I spend waaaay too much time on this project.

At the moment, due to the small batch I have, I am limiting to those that have a Player's car. Once those are done, then I can open it up (and order more).

Due to the small number of cars still out there, not much demand to make up a pile-o-decals ... but they would look great on any toolbox in any garage!

Thanks Mark, for the hard work in producing the decals here is a pic of the result. It is going to look great with the car decals that I just bought the Happy Road Racer. It should be done by the end of the month. I decided not to go black for the full resto but I think it will look great , and cleaner. Thanks again.

I only had two choices for blue due to the method of printing. This was the closest. I expect the originals might have discolored or lightened over time as well.
