tring to bolt a flywheel from a 86 T/A to a 69 block
the bore in the center of the fly wheel won't let it sit on the crank
if i get an older flywheel will the 5 speed clutch bolt to it?
will there be problems with the pilot bearing?
is my only choice an older flywheel?

'86=one piece rear main seal, different crank than '69.
I would assume that the clutch will still bolt up to the older flywheel (5 speeds were available in '85, weren't they)?

I think I figured it out, I have an externally balanced 153 tooth small journal flywheel, I need an internally balanced 153 tooth flywheel with a large journal

am i right?

Yeah, the internal/external balance is probably a big factor!

all the motors will be internally ballanced, only 400/454 etc were external. if it is an 86 motor but not an 87 then its still a 2 piece seal. but for some reason in 85 they changed the round flange size, the thing thats not letting you bolt up. the flywheel has to be 85 or older to work with it :-\ so you got a new style flywheel for a old style setup. so its, either change the crank, or change the flywheel :)

'86 is still two piece? Hmm, well... learn something new everyday I guess.
