Hey all! I have couple of questions...
I got a laptop, and I know what I can do theoretically:
Through a COM PORT interface I can hook up the laptop to display the ODB readings computer codes, and all the neat stuff. Also it is possible to tap into the transmission and rev, on automatics, so the laptop can control the shifting...
So u can pick modes, like shifting regular, or shifting rally - at the red, also u can play around with fuel injection, mixture controls and all the stuff that "super chips" do to the on-board computer...
I was interested int hat for a long time, and had a colelction of usefull links...but I deleted them, while formatting my computer...so its all lost, and I just got a laptop, which I want to sacrifize for that purpose...

My question is, have any of you ever tried that?
Maybe you know someone who did.
Anything helpfull would be nice...
Also if u have please post links to related software...
I had a linkt o a freeware proggy that would do all that for me, but stupid me have lost it...
And apparently it is pretty easy to build an interface...
So any thoughs, please, all r welcome!

As far as I understand, the ALDL port only spits out information, you can't change the maps at all. I did hook up a Snap-on scan tool to mine, and you can change the open-loop closed-loop stuff on the fly. Thats pretty much all I know.

you can only change the chip in a 3rd gen, if you want laptop control you'll need to get DFI or something along those lines
