i have a set of 3.73's for a 3rd gen, would they work in a 4th gen rear end?

yes, as long as it is a 7.5 10 bolt and not the 9 bolt

and the 4th gen has 3.23 or higher gears in it now

any suggestions where to get the gears installed? i got quoted $550 with bearings ect at i.w.e
that sound reasonable?

I think it does if that includes a good set of gears.

diff in car or you giving them the diff?
they'd probably change them in car anyway, but it'd be easier out of car

I.W.E. installed my 373's in my TRU-TRAC 6 years ago.....$250...550 sounds a little high.

i called and thats the price i was given... 400 for the install 90 for the rebuild kit plus tax

What about using Billys Mustang... as far as i know they do work on more than just mustangs and by the looks of it they would be a bit cheaper and i'd bet they'd do a good job

4th gens from 2000-02 came with 3.23s anything before can be 2.73 or 3.23 with the performance pkg.
GU2 on the rpo code is a 2.73
GU5 is 3.23

IWE qouted me $800 to swap my 4.56 gears for 3.73 and its a 4th gen TA rear end. and they will not install customer suppplied gears.. rear end in the car...

ouch, go to berts there cheaper and they use customer supplied gears.
