I wanna have the engine, suspension and rear end rebuilt this summer. wheres a good place to have it all done?
My engine is pretty much dead, got lots of power but the oil pressure is going lower and lower slowly. after i do a burnout and shut it off, it will have troubles turning over and hesitates almost like the pistons dry seize.
Should i build the car up, or sell it off and buy an ls1? im guessing the ls1 route is the cheaper way to go.

its an easier swap just some wiring and a different computer, adam has done one on that red vert. was an LT1 but they put and LS1/2/6/7 (do not know) in it supercharged looks mint. ask him about some options..

so the ls swap is the way to go? how much u think it would cost? ill probly go that route.

my customer dropped the car off to me and we did a heads and cam package with a vortech blower on the LS1 and T56. We also did a tubular k member, qa1 coilovers, baer 13" brakes, spec clutch and Iforge wheels. All said and done he's into the mods on the car for about $45k including all parts and labor. For a basic LS1 and T56 swap into an LT1 car you'd probably be just under 10k all said and done.

10k later (because a lot of that is labour into doing the swap) and you have a stock ls1 with some km on it
or 10k later and you've rebuilt your lt1 (so it's 0km fresh) with nice rods and pistons and a wicked h/c package that'll destroy the stock ls1
honestly i'd do the second, unless i had massive power goals (because you can push the LS1 a lot further)

Not really that much in labor to be honest
Super clean low miles LS1 and T56 is still $6k
K member with mounts is $650
Conversion fuel rails and reg $500
Headers are about $800
Plugs, wires, fluids etc at least another $250
Misc wiring, solder, heat shrink, loom, etc $100
Thats $8300 in parts
Looking at about 10 hours in wiring $650
and another 15 hours or so pulling the old engine and related parts out and installing the new junk $1k

yeah, but kill the conversion parts, 6k gets you the rebuild and an insane h/c package, that leaves you 3 grand to build the rest of the drivetrain and other supporting modifications
when you're done, 10 grand ls1 swap, you have a stock ls1
or for that kind of dough you have a fresh lt1 built up like hell with a h/c package that'll probably pull off 400hp no problem
you know what you're doing, obviously, you do these swaps all the time, but i fail to see why the ls1 swap is better, unless you're planning on dumping WAY more into the ls1 swap

LS1 is a far superior starting point, far less problems, way more new and used parts available, much simpler to tune, stock engine management is as good or better than most stand alones. Throw heads and cam into that exact same LS1 and you're only looking at another $2500 and the car will totally outperform the LT1 car and not have stupid and annoying ignition, opti and waterpump issues. The list goes on. Stock LS1 bottom ends have made over 600 RWHP reliably and daily driven.

Not to mention an LS1 is way cooler, problably better on gas...
