Thats pretty much it. Its funny to think that in a full bodied car to run like 7 seconds, you need about 100 safety items, but for a bike to got the same speed and times, they only need like 5 things, soem of those bikes are just plain crazy. Super fun to watch. ;D

i asked about it once. they told me that you need an approved helmet, full leathers, boots above the ankles and a teather or safety shutoff. they aren't too stiff on the safety shutoff, i've seen lots of bikes run without them.

I've been running my bike at the track for a couple of years. when i started running all i had were jeans, steel toed work boots, leather jacket and a helmet. The tech guys let it slip for a couple of runs but i doubt they will any more. now you need an approved helmet, full leathers (1 or 2 piece), boots with no laces, and if you are going to run over 120 mph you need a lanyard switch (i've never had one but they hassle me about it all the time)

Do you need anything safety wired? Need a back protector? Do they check for anti-freeze? I'd like to see what my 636 will do, I've also got a score to settle with my buddy's R6 :D

well, the equipment is dependant on teh speeds that you're running. on a 636 you shouldn't have to worry about a lanyard switch because you won't be over 130 mph, if the tech guys hassle you about it just let them know you can't go that fast anyway... as for personal safety equip, you'll need a snell + DOT approved helmet, full leathers, and boots without laces. The tech guys do not check bikes for anti-freeze, and i would strongly suggest leaving it in. A back protector may be a good idea if you think you might dump, but it isn't required
what year is the r6 that you're wanting to race?

Ha well if it's a good run I could be hitting 130, but I'm sure I could say otherwise...My buddy's got an 03 R6 w/ PC and full system, and I own him on the street. He seems to think he'll do better on the track, but having owned an R6, I think he's in for it ::)

honestly, it all comes down to the rider. bikes are WAY more sensative to launches/shifts than cars are on the track; however, bike vs bike the r6 will win

You think so? I've ridden his bike, and I'd say mine has more power everywhere and less weight...Most magazine tests show the 636 as significantly quicker, but I doubt I can extract that out of it on the first few runs. Not really a dragracer by nature, just want to show up a buddy ;D

Sportrider:
Bike / 1/4mile time / 60-80 / 80-100
04 636 / 10.50@130.7 / 4.05 / 3.80
04 YZF R6 / 10.69@128.9 / 4.13 / 4.63
Again I don't really care about such a small time difference, but he can't run his bike as hard as he runs his mouth ::)

thats usually the case with most guys, hopefully you can kick his ass... if you want any tips to the track, let me know. the biggest thing that I found is the traction, there is WAY TOO much on the line so you'll have to slip the shit outa your clutch to get the 60 ft time down
