Im going to do a gear change in my truck soon because 4.10s and 35s are too much for my little gas 5.9, especially when you hook up a trailer and put 3500lbs on it. Im going to go with a set of 4.88s, i have done the math and i will be turning just over 2000rpm in o/d at 100km/h; compaired to 1680rpm w/4.10s, i can live with that.
My question is: is there a significant difference in quality between gear companys? I see them advertised from $180 to $300. i know the general idea is you get what you pay for, and since this is my daily driver and my tow rig, i dont want to chap out. i need something that will put up with the abuse. im not hauling 11,000lbs across the country, but i will be putting some stress on these things. what do you guys think? are there any companys to stay away from?
