GM 12 bolts take less power to operate than the Ford 9" and with a c-clip eliminator kit they are just as strong.

haha im a gm fanatic but no its not as strong as a 9" 8.875 ring gear vs 9" ring gear the 9 inch center section is way more rigid and less flex as a 12 bolt for the pinion, case is way stronger cuz you can brace beam the back. pinion bearing is way beafier, already has a axle retention device, theres 400 bucks alone just to get it done on the 12 bolt. less ring gear deflection cuz its bolted to the case via 12 bolts instead of 4 on a 12 bolt. beefier main bearings. beefier spool (cuz thats whats going in) better gear ratio seletion. and the parts are cheap, cuz they are all over the place. theres a reason why the 9" and the dana 60 are the main rearends in drag racing with all the heavy hitting cars, its cuz they are way beefier and allout stronger. i think of a rearend as an investment do it right once and to last then you NEVER have to worry bout it ever 8)

i never did it a first time to begin with :P its only got gears and clutchpacks. and a spool will be more reliable then a posi unit or a locker. and its only gonna see the amount of driving it did this year, limited on some weekends. who cares just turn like a semi lol ;D

get your axel tubes welded to the houseing, 31 or 33 spline axels, spool, have 9" type axel flangs welded to the axels tubes so you don't need c-clip elim kit, and a girdle. That being said your stock axels are good for around 1.5 60's...well that's what the gn guys are running :)
