3rd Gen vs 4th Gen

Thinking of picking up a 1LE car for some roadracing. Anyone have any direct experience with both 3rd and 4th Gen cars? How do they compare? Which is the better car for a novice? Which is lighter, faster, harder to drive?

I prefer the driving position in a 3rd gen over a 4th gen,
I'm not exactly tall and can't see any of the hood on a 4th gen, which I don't like when puching the limits of the car

I have been sucessfully roadracing 3rd Gens (89 IROC and 82 TA) for a total of 11 years now. I have owned a 4th gen TA (Firehawk) since 2001 and drive it hard, although never on the track.

My ultimate roadrace car would be the LSx (about 500 BHP) in a 3rd Gen. Lots of reasons for this, but seating position/view is one of them, as well as the plastic body of the 4th gen cars results in certain extra costs and problems. I do use the wider 4th gen rearend though.

ive owned three 3rd gens and one 4th i prefer the 4th for driving. mainly because of better power and braking stock, modded id say 3rd gen.

damn my head rubs the liner with the seat in the lowest position, my t roofs are ok but my hard top sucks ,i still cant see the nose of either one 4 gen

4th gens are awsome for beginners, unless u drive like an idiot. im 6 4 and still couldnt see the hood on mine, i think they designed it like that. i hate the 4th gen brakes with a passion, they fade like a mother fucker when u get on them. they handle ok i guess, power wise, they make good power and torque with a few bolt on's. now as for 3gens go i have no experiance with em, alltho last year ivan had his 3rd gen side by side with my 4th gen in the 1/4 mile. my best for 1/4 time was i think a 14.0@99mph?
