Just wondering if any of you guys would know if 16 x 8 mags with 265x45x16 tires would work on a 1991 Z-28 or do you need spacers or some other parts to mount? My 245/50/16's in the front seem to rub now... what would 265's do? Just for track days and such not for street.

Thanks for your time.

well i guess you can remove the inside fender shield to help... but mainly i don't get how you can mount 265s on 8'' rims without seriously bulging them out... i guess maybe racing tires have really stable sidewalls?

No, I am not sure what offset they are.

I can't swear that the clearances will be the same, but my 82 TA has run 275/45 Hoosier DOT race tires on 16" X 8" GTA stock wheels on the front (1LE setup) and the rear for road race. other than trimming the bumpstops, no issues at the rear at all, but the fronts would rub when backing up only. Yes, the sidewalls simply don't flex. I went down to 255/50 on those stock wheels for the front because they stuck so well it unbalanced the car. The rear would be loose while the front stayed hooked up. Now I run a smaller contact patch on the front vs the rear and the car will drift in a stable slide with no breakaway, even at turn 9 at Mission while doing 80 mph.

If I may chime in.........I run 275 35 20's on a 20x8 rim with no clearance issuses at all. No rubbing, no bludging...its the "last size to fit" on that rim. I may get the rim widened....But only to make the tires look bigger. lol
