just a quicky................should i get them to build me a 7 5/8" with an f-body posi and 28 spline axles from a monte SS or a GN. If it's really not much more money or no more money at all and it'll all bolt right in - y not? or is there sumthin i'm not thinking about, wada ya think..............79 Z28 - wanna take this 1 again. I'm not gunna think about moser axels, just replacements to keep the cost down ;) thx again man

Just a quote from "Malibu racing": A relatively cheap upgrade to the stock 7.5" rearend is to get a F-body "take-off" posi unit from SLP Engineering. These are 28 spline units that use the 7 5/8" (7.625) ring gear. They are a direct bolt-in for the 7.5" rear, and you can reportedly get them for only $100 from SLP. Also, order 28 spline axles from Moser Engineering for a Buick Grand National. These are a direct bolt-in and cost only $250. They are MUCH stronger than the wimpy stock 26 spline gears. You'll end up with a much stronger rear for minimal cash outlay.

yea, the 2 most important things you'll need is a aftermarket gearset, like a richmond, very important and the posi unit. those are the most important pieces to focus on right now. depending on how fast you want to go, how much hp, and what tires your running, the stock axles for now will do. this year ill be doing a low 11 with slicks on my stocker 8.5 10 bolt, with stock 28 splines and a 4.10 richmond setup on stocker posi unit. :)

hey hey.....thx for getting back to me. I'm running about 310hp to the wheels with 26" tall tires. This is my daily driver and weekend warrior. The posi will be an Auburn and the gears will be "motive gear" ( $1500 for that and a clutch). Are Richmonds that much better and are they that much more expensive. I dunno............bigger is better in this instance and i thought the 7 5/8's would be a better choice in my finacial predicament. Wat would have to happen for me to swap to the 7 5/8" from the 7.5??? Any takers thx
