ive got a 1967 beaumont with a supercharged 350 and a turbo 350 tranny with a 12 bolt rearend with 373's.its not much of a top end cruiser and was wondering what a 700 r4 would set me back. i want one fully built with a trans brake also.anyone also know how hard it would be to convert to a sax speed????? ??? ???

heh well.. you could goto www.bowtieoverdrives.com.. they have from what ive heard very good trannies. Or you could go to a local shop and look to spend 2-3k easy BEFORE the trans brake! 700's = expensive! Plus lots of people do shit jobs on them.

this sax speed you speak of, its very custom, unless your car is GeeTee you cant do it

IMO if your car is putting out decent power and you want a tranny brake your gonna have to stick with either a th350/400 or a glide. you cannot get a brake for a 700 for a reason, it just cant take it, its not practical in racing or reliability. i just dont like them stick with what you got or a th400 you will have a bulletproof trany if done right and you'll never have to worry bout it. my suggestion is stick with what you got and get a taller tire ;D

Go with the TH200-4R. Same length as the TH350/400 and they're almost a direct bolt in overdrive. Just have to modify the tranny crossmember....painless........

TH200-4R 8) plus isn't the planetary's strong on this one then the 700's and ... your overdrive is alittle better as well .67 vs .7

TH200-R4 are from G-body's mostly Regals montes cutlass, so on, most notibly they're behind 3.8L Turbo's wether it is a GN, T-Type or TTA.

The 200-4r and 700r4 are almost identical after you rebuild them, performance wise.. The gearing is just a bit different, and they are different lengths. If you can just get a 200 and then you wont have to spend 100-150 getting your shaft shortened.

I'm sure there are places in Surrey that would knock a few inches off your shaft for cheaper than that :P

I would agree a 200-4R is the way to go, but if you do go 700 then go 88+.

Ive been told the 91 cores are the best because they have more clearancing in the main planetary, however, Ive always noticed 87s shit damn good... odd

if you get a 700 try to get one from a 91-92, much better, well as far as 700's go, but if you can get a 4L80.
