Tranny Swap: Auto -> Man

So I'm taking the plunge and pulling out my V6 700R4 in favor for a T5 out of an S10. Besides the fact that the shifter is so stinkin long, this swap will work right? I got the tranny because we did an Man -> Auto swap in the s10, so I figured the swap would work the other way.

The S10 tranny was set up for a 2.74 rear, so with my 3.42 rear I'd be better off anyway. This swap is a good idea right? Or better yet, I'm not crazy eh?

Thats going to have a tall first gear...in your Camaro, first gear will almost be useless I would think.

as long as it doesn't have the granny 1st gear it will be okay I think. Putting in this tranny will be about the same as me putting a 4.10 back there. But does it sound mechanically possible?????

Mechanically yes, just get a Camaro shifter..Im pretty sure the output and tailshaft is the same on the S10 and F-body.

aren't f-bod's hydraulic clutches too?? so wont u need to mount the resevoir aswell? i know its not a big deal, but i like to sound important ;D

Okay, I have the pedals, linkage, console plate, tranny, clutch, and....um....that should be it right? Does anyone have a picture of how the linkage looks from the engine side? I honestly haven't ever looked or noticed how it goes in there! and does the shifter go straight up when its in, or will I have to find the right shifter? I only have the long ass s10 shifter for the moment, but I'll cut it down some. I'll be refering to my Chiltons manual for most of everything, but a picture is worth a million words. Oh, and Mike, I got my H4's in! MUAHAHAHAHA!

the shifter on the s10 is a 2 peice designe u can unbolt it at the end of the crome shaft it makes a huge diff
