I was late for work on last week so I decided to take the HOV Lane on Sea Island yo make up some time but a cop was waiting under the over-pass right before the Arthur Lang brdige and gave me a fucking ticket for improper use of HOV Lane. Any ideas on how to get out of it?

fight it tell the judge your car was over heating,
and you were tring to get more airflow through your rad
turned out later your electric fan had quit ;)
i bet the judge would be willing to reduce the fine
best i can come up with

some advice don't use the hov lane when there is a cop behind you

he wasnt behind me, he was hiding under an overpass that was also around a corner plus it was rush hour so no one was letting me merge into the regular lane.

I know some people who used blow up dolls or dummys in their passenger seat and used HOV lanes, it seemed to work

Here's the easiest way to get out of any ticket:

First, set your court date. The way the courts do it locally is that they'll try and get the all of officer who served you your ticket's disputes in court at the same day. That way the cop who gave you your ticket can dispute all his tickets, and only miss one day on the beat. Cuz we all know the 5-0 are such hard workers (Tim Hortons anyone?)

Then, miss you court date. Make sure you've got a valid excuse. Seriously valid. Go to the hospital for something. I dunno, I told them my GF and I had to go to the clinic for an emergency I'd rather not tell the court about (implying the morning after pill), and the court bought it.

They'll give you another court date, and ask for the soonest possible date. Don't take the first one they offer you. This way, the officer who gave you your ticket will need to do the following before you've got to pay: Go to work, drive to Tim Hortons, do whatever cops do, go home, change, go to court for a half-hour dispute, go home again, change again, and go back to work. 99% of cops are lazy, so they'll simply not show up. Bada bing bada boom, you're off scot free!

Sage advice. Just don't get caught at it. The penalties are much greater than they are for just a traffic ticket.

I watch where the hits on our web site are coming from and then drop by the forums to see what is going on. Some of the conversations are quite interesting, and others I just shake my head at.

i got a ticket for being in the HOV lane recently. the thing was that I was only there becuase i could smell antifreeze and i knew i was having overheating problems with my rad ( i had bought stop leak for it the day before).
Only reason i was in the HOV lane was becuase traffic was gridlocked in the two normal lanes so i pulled over to the left hand side of the road and checked under the hood, after being satisfied that there wasnt any problems, i got back on the road. Problem was that i could get back in now becuase of the gridlock so i tried to force my way in, but still couldnt. then some asshole comes up behind me and honks and shit so i start moving again and keep my signal on. 1 min away was a cop hidden behind a large truck pulled over on the side of the road...

im on probation right now becuase of a previous ticket and suspension that just ended. so i was totally terrified that if i said the wrong thing i might get suspened again. so i just sat there like an idiot...
he never even asked me why i was there, just gave me a ticket.

everyone i know figures ill get off no problem... but im not so sure...

i think ill try dfritter's idea first and use my story as a backup...
