old, its an airbus A320, that was a couple years ago at a paris airshow. they were showing off the new AI that flys the plane, pilotless. the thing missed its mark and tried to abort the landing but the computer stuck in landing mode and was trying to touch the plane down, the couldnt disengage it in time and pull up, it wouldnt let them, so the hovered right off the end of the runway into the trees lol

well you are mostly right except the plane was never landing. it was a fly-by, and it was filled with passengers. it was pilot error and i believe he was criminally charged

Captain Asseline flew the aircraft manually. He had been instructed by Air France to overfly the airfield at 100 ft above ground. When he increased throttle to level off at 100 ft, the engines did not respond. So after some seconds he got worried and thought there was something like a short-circuit in the completely computerized throttle control. So he pulled the throttle back all the way and forth again. By that time the aircraft had touched the trees.
After the accident, Captain Asseline was very astonished when he saw on an amateur video tape that the gear was only 30 ft above ground when the aircraft was passing over the runway. He affirms the altimeter of the Airbus A320 indicated 100 ft.

wow jason, you believe all of those chump posting under there, saying things like 'it was a nasa test plane', or 'it was actually on takeoff', or 'rob the robot autopilot' ::)
The quote and link i have above is to an aviation safety site who has something those chumps posting on that site dont have: THE OFFICIAL ACCIDENT REPORT
ps. although i'm sure this was also shown on tlc at some point in time, the video footage is amateur ::)

well obviously you havent heard of the test system for the airbus automated landing system that they were testing in that vid. i dont have a doubt the accident your talking about happened but this was from this other one and it was about 2 years ago

i dunno jaysy waysy, thats a pretty big co-inky-dink :P 2 separate accidents, both caught on vid from same angle, both a320's, both very 'low gear down approach into heavily wooded forests at the end of the runway, both air france, hmmm.

hey mine happened too, i heard about it way back. Airbus is a part french company so air france are gonna have alot of them, and get all the testing done first. the accident i was talking about had no passengers on board, it was testing.
