I've got a 89 TA and i gotta change the fuel pump on it....
ive heard i gotta drop the exhaust, heat shield etc. then eventually drop the fuel tank and change it from there....is there a quicker and easier way?

Im doing the same thing but need to work on a super sweet custom GT Khobra setup with my LS1 Plastic tank, but ya you have two options.
Option 1
Drop rear, drop exhaust, remove heat shields, drop fuel tank, replace with Walbro 255lph, (don't skimp unless you like replacing pumps)
Option 2
Brutally remove your carpet and hack your floor pan to make a door that will rust out so you can change your fuel pump with ease, cause people replace fuel pumps all the time

does anybody here run an external fuel pump? I'm converting my car from carb with mechanical pump to a tpi but i really don't want to drop my tank. I'm just curious about how effective the inline external pumps are and which one would anybody recomend

if your putting tpi in from carb you need to put return lines in
so you'll need to drop the tank anyways
best bet get a tank from a car with tpi
