I'm all for turbo, but the 301's are shit, replace with a real motor IMHO

I'm either too young or too stupid to know about the 301t. What is it? I've never even heard of it!

Pontiac 301 or 4.9L was there attempt after they killed the 400, to have an emissions friend engine (read small displacment) that could take over for it in the power department.

The 301's only saving grace which isn't much because everything else sucked was that it shared the same

4" bore x 3" stroke as the Chev 302 and Ford 302

Pontiac called it a 301 to be different and at that they succeeded.

I ran across one in an old (canadain model only) pontiac
can't recall the name at the moment, was like a canadain phoenix or some shit, late 70's boxxy white with blue interior lol

seized turbo and a rod knock :P
body was ok, I think the guy had us put a 350 chev in it, still a very ugly car though
I can't see any reason to want to work on one of those engines again, it's like making HP from a 2.8, sure you might be able to... but why?

sorry for the rant, time for me to go to bed I think

I FOUND IT

http://publish.uwo.ca/~agrehorn/301shrine.html

not that it will mean much to many people but it is a pretty good site info wise for the 301.

Damn that sounds like it was a BAD and poorly engineered idea. I DID see one, a few years back, in a wrecked TA. I just wanted to make sure that what I'd seen hadn't been someone's "aftermarket project" :)

for all who knows, yes the 301t was a bad design.

maybe the worst, but it does have that unique feature to it as it was only available for 2 years in the f-body lineup.

id like to keep the car as is and as tempting as it is to transplant it with a sbc it would be a shame to cut up a beautiful car like this.

if i could afford another progect car i would either do a 3.8t or a 4.3t. or maybe go balls out and do a twin turbl sbc just for my daily ride..........

either way you got to admit these cars are unique.
