I have a modded 355 that ran way too hot. I put in a hugh flow heavy duty waterpump, changed when the fan came on and went with a 160* thermostat without fixing the problem. Have you checked to make sure the fans tuen on? Rad cap ?Make sure the lower air damn is still on? Check for leaves rtc. in front of the rad? If thats all good its probably your rad. I ended up having a 3 core copper rad made for $300.00 and he car (with a 160*) stat wont go past the 1/4 mark. A good friend also has this same rad with his 383CID T56 IROC-Z with the same results. Shoot me an email and I will send you the info. bristol62@hotmail.com

wire the cooling fans so they stay on all the time, problem solved.

what happens if his car has only the single fan which is computer controlled? Rather than have them on all the time why not fix the problem

Fans running all the time is a good temp fix, but he really should address the problem, I would also replace the thermostat and see about borrowing a real temp gauge, like an autometer one, as the stock ones are notoriously inaccurate.

its also quite a typical problems in Irocs to run hot, even when nothing is really wrong with them. Running the cooling fan all the time is generally a quick and simple fix to this standard problem. If there is anything wrong with the cooling system then obviously that should be fixed too.

i say replace the fans with big beefy ones, and then put the fans on a big toggle switch so you can trn them on and of as you wish ;D

the stock dual fans are good
try maybe wiring up the a/c fan so it turns on with the regular fan.. 2 fans=good

could be air in the system, do the irocs have bleeder screws? could be the rad cap as well. check to see if the fans do turn on. make sure the air dam is on properly and nothing is trapped up there like leaves or bags. you replaced the thermostat so im thinking its air in the system. try filling the rad with the car on, bleeder screws open. could be a bad water pump as well.

There are several different things you can try to address the problem. You could have a malfunctioning thermostat, radiator cap, and fan coupling, which would need to be replaced. Your radiator fan could be choked, try cleaning out the air passage by using the pressure from the engine side of radiator. Your ignition and valve timing may need to be adjusted. Try refilling your oil (it could be dirty or the engine could have sludge in it). The water pump may need to be replaced. Also, try adjusting the fan belt, it could be loose. The radiator could be restricted, so try flushing that. The temperature gage could be inacurrate so that may need to be replaced. Finally it could be impurity in the water, so use soft clean water. These may all be causes and ways to fix it, hope this can help :-\ Happy hunting ;)
