Wondering if anyones knows much about the smog pump and if your able to get some actual use of it by connecting it up to the intake to act as a "blower" you may say...other than just doing absolutely shit

I don't think that it will put out enough cfm to do any good, let alone keep up with the motor at idle :D

But, does anyone know if it can be safely removed without having to reprogram the ecu? My ecm integrator is pegged, leaning out the car bad. Could this be because the O2 sensor isn't getting the air from the smog pump????

A little late, aren't I? Well, I have to put my .02 in here. I tried using the smog pump on my '80 Firebird (301) as a blower. I didn't really expect much, and I didn't get much (I think I leaned it out a lot though). So instead, I hooked it up backwards on the breather tube out of the passenger side valve cover, as sort of a vacuum pump. Believe it or not, I actually noticed a tiny bit of top end power on the ol' ass dyno. So long as you're carb'd, there's no harm and certainly the possibility of gain.

Double post, sorry...anyways, yeah it sure could be. The smog pump makes sure that as much fuel as possible is burned before the exhaust gets to the cat (since the exhaust right out of the cylinder is still hot enough to ignite with fresh oxygen), the O2 could be sensing a rich mixture since more unburned fuel would be getting to it.

He never came back...it's too bad the idea can't work, a smog pump can never pump enough volume with enough pressure to actually do anything. It leaned my 301 out and that was about all, it was fun to try though. I wonder what would happen with FI, though...maybe the computer would shoot extra fuel in? That would theoretically give a small boost in power...
