Hey guys, i have a 95 bird, 3.4L (cmon gimmie a break, i gotta drive alot for work!) but anyways, i was doing a tranny fluid change at school. I took off the pan and i found a moderate amount of charred metal, not a whole lot, but a considerable amount. I just flushed the fluid out and replaced it with new fluid. The tranny still drives fine and i dont have any problems with it, but ive heard that if theres metal on your pan its a bad thing? Anyone have any ideas?

i wouldnt worry about it too much, unless it was bigger pieces. notice any slipping or the old fluid smelling like burnt celery?

well the peices werent big, but prior to the tranny fluid change the fluid did smell "burnt" or "cooked" if you will. The tranny currently shifts fine, but im just wondering what the miniscule shards of metal would represent?

some metal is normal, i cant say unless i seen it, i wouldnt worry too much, if its shifting fine, and not doing anything funky, i wouldnt lose sleep over it right now

I agree
when ever changing trans fluid keep the old stuff until you put the new stuff in and your sure your trans works
reason for this sometime the metal in the fliud makes it so the trans still work
with the new stuff the tranny will start slipping and the perfectly good tranny you just changed the fluid in needs to be rebuilt
I've seen it before

well thanks guys for your input, i really appreciate it. But just to keep you guys updated, i put some tranny fluid in that had a green tinge to it. Its called Grandma Gerty's green lined tranny fluid. It says on the bottle i cant rev it over 1200RPM for max performance, i think that should do me good for a while, what you guys think? :|
