View Full Version : Hopefully living in Burnaby soon.
hey everybody. I live in Calgary right now but at the end of the summer I'm going to be moving to Burnaby for school (pending my acceptance). I'm really looking forward to being in a bigger city, and at a lower altitude for better runs at the track. :D
Er, there is a track nearby, right? And.. good parts stores? What about meets? Well I guess I'll find out soon enough.

BCIT or SFU?
Crime depends on the school you attend really haha
BCIT. Taking engineering tech, then transferring into engineering at the ubc...

BCIT has taken quite a number of steps to thwart crime but it still occurs. Depends where you live in the area too...close to metrotown centre can be really bad since its near a skytrain station.
ok, I will be careful. Probably gonna live on-campus anyway. They have secured parking. :)
Hey, if I'm out and about, do I really have to worry about someone messing with my car? It has a nice alarm, but still.. I worry like you wouldnt believe..

Stay out of underground parking lots....
Thats all i can say from experience in Burnaby really
Living on campus would be nice, i wouldnt have a 37 minute commute to and a 28 minute commute from every day

Well from the outside they look alright, a little cramped if anything. If i were you id get one because you're gonna shit your pants went you see how much difference cost of living is from Alberta to BC, if you havent already.
Oh, I have.. But I have a friend who is also going to be living in Burnaby, so we could get a 2 bedroom and share the cost of rent..
Oh, another thing I was just informed of. Car insurance. what's teh average ammount per year?
Sorry for all the questions. I'm just a little overwhelmed and you guys are the only ones I know that I can ask lol.

I pay $280.................. A MONTH!
pleasure use only, with full coverage and 3 million liability.
almost 4 years of perfect driving too, no accidents or speeding tickets
*shits his pants* ohhh no. Well 100 a month is kick ass, 280 a month is not. Hmm.

I paid 1400 for a year on my 90 Jimmy
Would be even less if i insured my Cutlass

i paid $3200 for the year.
Seems to vary a whole lot. Right now it's only like 1500 a year, but that's on my parents' plan so we get discounts for having 3 cars insured, everyone has great records, etc...

probably pay $150-$200 for a 3rd gen depending on what kind of discount the rip of corperation of BC gives you,
I've only had my car broken into once and it turned out to be 1 of my brothers ex-friends that turn into a coke head and needed money for blow
so we beat the living piss out of him which made it all worth while :D

Burnaby is one of the nicer places to live. Around BCIT is ok but a lot of people go there to look through cars. With alarm and club u should be fine, just dont leave spare change laying around. Ive lived in Burnaby all my life. None of my cars or places ive lived in have been broken into. There are some ghetto parts of BBY but they are scarse.
my shops 5 mins from BCIT too.
Excellent. 'Cause I know I am going to need to do things, like FINALLY install those headers, etc..
