I'm shopping for a whole lot of parts right now, and it is basically my first time through all this, so I was wondering if anyone has any advice/recommendations on parts or brands.
Basically, the major parts on the list are heads, intake manifold, headers, & throttle body.

Anyone know anything about vortec heads? I've seen a couple "kit" deals around with these vortec heads, like this one: http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?action=catalog_start&catid=2172

If you have any suggestions about what I should get, let me know. Looking for a little expertise on this one ;D

I guess it kinda depends on how nuts you wanna go...

vortech's are a good mild buildup head so are vette L98 aluminum heads if you can find em (ported they perform quite well)

for a mid buildup I'd go with either edelbrock preformer or trickflow twisted wedge heads 64cc combustion chambers, stealthram intake, 58mm TB any brand is good BBk is cheap, go for the edelbrock headers

for a wild buildup, go for AFR heads, TPIS miniram intake, go for the single blade 70mm (I believe) TB, and a set of long tube headers

any of these setups you will have to get the appropriate cam and of course match the bottom end appropriately

thanx man. Not looking to go too crazy. 400 rwhp would be ideal at the end of the buildup, so what path would be the best to get there do you think?

Also, something I've been wondering for quite some time about headers, what is the difference between long tube & short tube headers, apart from their length? (performance-wise)
