Yup, rip out everything in front of the engine and give'r. Just don't drop your freshly lubed cam in the dirt...

ive done it as well, toooonnnss of room once the two coolers are out, theres a cross bar thats kind of bothersome since its such a delicate process but its not too bad at all.

cool. i want to build a new motor but thats awhile away. i set my timing the other day and it was bouncing around pretty good. so i am thinking about doing the timing Chan and thought well i was in there i would do the cam too. what would be a good cam for a stock 350 with about 170000 km on it? it don't burn any oil and its got oil psi like it was new. just want to pep it up till i build a new motor

Comp Cams 260AH-14, PN 12-402-4. Doesn't require any other mods.

Whoops, I forgot about the roller lifter deal. That cam is a flat hydraulic grind. Here's a roller cam; 262HR-12, PN 08-300-8. Or, you could go with a 264HR-12, PN 08-302-8, but apparently it needs computer mods. Might be worth it, though.

roller cams will go along time before they wear out, alot more than 170,000km
after 100,000km I would do the timing chain,
timing chain is alot less work than a cam, cam u got to remove intake
you can get away with doing the timimg chain without lifting the motor
just undo the oil pan all the way you'll kind of have to force the cover off and on but it can be done,
if not you'll have to undo the at least 1 motor mount and lift the motor slightly

yea the cam is not wore out i was just thinking that because i was most of the way there to changeing it why not just pull the intake and do the cam too

i just did a new cam in my car it was quite simple, pull the intake, all the pulleys etc, the rad, if u have A/C i need to pull that rad as well, then the 2 X bars infront of the rad, drop all of the oil pan bolts out except for the last to closest to the rear of the engine, (unless u plan to replace the pan gasket)
then take off the timing cover. the gears and then the cam. after that its just the oppisite.
start to finish, just over a day.
cost $300 complete (cam,lifters,timing cover gasket,water pump gaskets,front main seal,intake manifold gaskets,4L antifreeze,5L oil, oil filter)

Yeah, get deals. But DON'T get a single pattern cam! Dual patterns (different duration and sometimes lift for the intake and exhaust valves) work wayyyy better with stock heads.

its what you have
its a cam for a car with hydrulic roller lifters
all TPI has roller lifters, its what helps TPI motors with alot of its power

roller cams are about 50% more in price than a flat tappet cam

i have noticed that... not fair. but on the plus side the lifters are cheaper for a car that already had a roller cam

my engine allthout TBI is a roller block and had a roller cam from the factory, but when i first built the engine my funds were limited so i went to a hydraulic flat tappet cam. the one that i jsut put in is identical. i had a few bad lifters so decided to replace the cam as well as the lifters.
debated goin to a bigger cam, but then id have to dick with valve springs and waste more money... more money that can go towards my 350 :D

yea for that price i kinda figured it was not roller
