I test drove a camaro with flowmaster exhaust today and while it did sound decent it wasn't as loud as I had expected. I've driven other camaros with flowmaster exhaust and theres had sounded louder. Does having no cat make the exhaust louder? do headers help? sorry i'm not big on cars but i'm trying to learn so help me out here lol!

no cat makes it louder,
big motor makes it louder
long tips that are bigger then the exhaust make it louder
headers,
also the type of flowmaster or mufler

A cutout is a opening valve that goes right before the Y-pipe and u can have it closed for normal flowing exhaust, or u can have it open for loud exhaust like open headers and it dumps the exhaust where u put it pretty much, put it after the y-pipe starts. www.thunderracing.com has them for sale, get a eletric one.

Thats alright dude, thats like saying ur engine is bigger then big or u have lots of hp than alot of hp lol.. the louder the better, u gotta scare those gay ricers driving out there on our beloved streets.

loud, is headers into a dynomax race bullet terminating by the tranny, shook the windows as I drove by my parents place (when it was running :( ) now I got an american thunder kit (ie flowmaster 3" plus 3" tips with an 80 series) thats loud, oh ya I have no cat either.
new system in the spring is dual 2.5" xpipe cat, dynomax bullets, sleep setup. (loud but no flashy tips)

i want the "Low-Line Lake Pipes"...the ones with the caps..or just a normal electronic cut off right after the wheel in the front...i think the "Low-Line Lake Pipes" would look better...id just get them thicker...
can you buy a set of headers that would match my stock y pipe?
(i have a flowmaster exhaust as well)
if you want loud, get the slp loudmouth catback. Cant beat the volume, but with headers or no cats it sounds real raspy and shit.. its not my favourite but its definately loud

ive got headers into a 3 inch pipe no cat down to a 80 sieries flow master....with 3.5 inch tips on it...my cap is LOUD....no cat makes a HUGE difference...even if it is a high flow cat... header didnt make a difference on volume but made the sound cleaner and way sexier... the 3inch pipe made a difference by making it sound more open and throaty and again sexier...ive never heard my car without the tips on it but im guessing they made a difference too lol....i love the way my car sounds... thats the way to do it.
