just happend to find the Players challenge car that id heard was in Nanaimo, its near some auto wreckers and is in ruff shape.
it is a 1987 Pontiac Trans-Am, red (has been painted).5.0 TPI, 5 speed, and has the factory roll cage, it also has 66,000 original kms on it, and the owner does have the proper wheels for it.

i played dumb and asked about it, then he came back with" its a rare car"
so then i knew we were on the same playing feild.

it needs some body work and interior work, but is a definate resto project.

he said as is he wants $8000-9000 for it or a decent trade, does have all the necessary papers etc.
If only I had the extra cash!

i got pics that ill post up when i get home.

In 1987, red was the most common color of Trans Ams. I 'd say mor than 1/2 of the cars were Red. I have pictures of all the 1987 cars.

The rollcage, if a western car was made by Davenport.

To check if the car is an eastern or western car, look on the cowl just below the driver's wiper. If it is an eastern car ,then there will be a small plaque from CASC and a number on it. Out west they did not use that.

There was only 20 1987 Trans Am's built for Player's racing. Yes it is a rare car.

island is a players car heaven. In 87 they are all stripped interiors. I prefer the 91s myself but cool find nonetheless. mThere is one near m,y house from 87 as well, ill post some pics. the thing is In ROUGH shape

the guy said it was from tom harris chev olds in nanaimo, i didnt see the plate either so i assume its a western car. can u e-mail me the pics of the cars from 87?

i also got pics of the vin, may dig up some more infomation

I've checked my listings and I don't have any 1987 Trans Am from that dealership or that city.

If you email me the Vin I can tell you if it falls in the range for 1987 or not. Otherwise you need to find the A4U code in the RPO list.

1987 was the first year they ran a TPI motor in the series. I heard from one fellow that rebuilt his motor ... turns out all the rods were marked with their weight. Balenced from factory!
