Sorry this is kinda long, I dont have internet at my house so i dont post very often. But ive made alot of progress on my f bod lately and id like a little input about the exhaust set up....

After sitting in my yard rotting for six months the T/A's finnally running again. I even had to tow it a few times since i tend to move around alot, but now finnally it can move on its own power. (yay!)

I got a sweet deal on a '78 C20 van. $100 for the whole thing, and it actually ran pretty good. 350 engine with 4 barrel carb and a t350 trans.... I bought it and drove it home with the sole purpose of using the engine for the T/A.

So one weekend when i had nothing better to do, I pulled the engine out- cleaned it up a little, put my nice new carb on it, and my T5. Sliped it in the T/A - and bam! The T/A's roaring and smokin tires again! Big difference over the 305.

The 350 might be kinda old and puffs a little blue when warming up, but it starts easily and runs real good. And the best part was it was only $100!

I ran it for a while with the stock manifolds and exhaust system. It sounded pretty good, but i couldnt get the dipstick in. All my 305's had the dipstick on the passenger side and this old 350 has it on the drivers side. The manifold went down right in front of it.

So i got headers. I bought flowtechs for $150. It sounds so tough with the open headers. At idle it sounds kinda like a tractor or something. at 4000 rpm it shakes the windows of my house. Its just deadly.

Sadly before i can put it on the road i have to get some kind of exhaust put on it. Id like to just run it like this but i know i'll get pulled over and i dont need an inspection ticket. Im in victoria tho, so at least i dont have any aircare requirements to worry about.

So what would you guys recomend I do for an exhaust set up? I guess the easiest would be the standard y pipe going to one muffler with two outs, probably the best option for price and ground clearance. What do you guys think of dual pipes with two glass packs? Would it be too loud? Do you know anybody who has a setup like that.

Im also kinda thinking maybe i should put off getting the exhaust done a little longer, so that i can install subframe connecters and maybe even get new floor pan sections put in....

cheers....

im kinda in the same boat as you...they guy that owned the car be4 me but a 350 in from a 67-69 camaro..(apapentrly) and the dipstick is on the drivers side and wont clear the manifold...so i guess ill just have to get some headeres for it to fit in :sanchez: ...o and im in victoria 2 lol

Cool! another victoria resident.* 8) Im in the gordon head area. Ive got a big yard thats starting to look like an auto wreckers. heh.

anyway, ya, The log style manifolds are really hurting. Not only does it cover up the dip stick tube on the drivers side- but if yours is like mine then your passenger side head doesnt have the extra bolt hole at the back. so the passenger side manifold might not have the very last bolt in there.

I hooked mine up fine without the last bolt and didint notice any exhaust leaks, but then again i didnt keep it that way very long.

The headers solved all of my problems. now i just need to get a new exhaust pipes and muffler hooked up. Im not even gonna bother reusing the ratty old muffler and my stock Y pipe is useless to me now...

when the guy put the exaust manifolds on my car he used some with the provisions on it for the smog pump or w.e. and forgot to plug some of the holes....so it sounds like im running half open header..sounds reallllyyyyy shitty
