There is a high chance this was a Player's car. Many continued life as race cars. The side exhaust on this car is not a player's exhaust, but it is similar in design.

The 350 was swapped ... and this too was common for cars that continued with racing. Finding a vintage car that still has the same engine is very rare, if not impossible. From a collectors point of view, the lack of a vin-number matching block detracts from the value of the car. Player's cars are exceptions ... if you can show that the engine in the car was a GM replacement. But even still, numbers matching is always preferred.

Chris, I bet your camaro has the right block. If your *really* bored, you can pull off some of the accessory drive on the passenger side of the block and have a look.

It still makes me wonder how many Player's cars are out on the streets, or in a wrecker that people don't even realize what they are/were.

Mark.
