Hey guys. Im in need of advice again. I started my car up
today, gave it a few revs to warm it up and all of a sudden
oil spued out from the oil filter/oil cooler housing. what would
cause high oil pressure? there is the correct amount of oil
in the car. This is the second time it's happened. I'v replaced
the oil cooler gasket before because it had a crack in it.
now I just dont know what to do. I'v noticed the oil pressure
gauge was a little high when I drive. I think max on the guage
is like 400 or something? and it was just below the top line.
ahh this makes me so mad cause now i'm carless :'( any
advice would be greatly appreciated. oh yeah. I had a rebuilt
put in. so maybe it doesnt attach to the new block very
well or something? *sigh* :'(

Okay Here's what happened! I'll try to explain it.

The oil filter screws onto a bolt, which goes through the Oil cooler and
attaches into a plate which is than bolted onto the block. turns out
that the plate had cracked in half by age, heat, and vibration. this
caused the oil cooler to not be screwed on tight enough to
the block. causeing the gasket to blow out under higher
oil flow. (thats why both times it blew when I reved the engine in the higher RPMS)
ya learn something new everyday!!

anyways. the part has to be shipped from the states. some
yankie state that starts with M, cant remember. so the car
should be fixed mid next week, just in time to get it lowered.

Wait. now, I'm not sure about this kinda stuff but in my 91 firechicken (5.0 tuned port) I'm at max (420) when cold and slowly creeps down at operating temp. I sure as shit hope to god this is normal.......

Those small gauges are notoriously inaccurate. Hook up a real calibrated gauge at the rear of the block just behind the TPI base for accurate numbers if you're worried.
