Steering box and front springs.

Turns out my neighbour raced players cars and has/had so much stuff. He got rid of the exhaust a week before I got my car (the side exhaust) and had a cage. He's got more stuff for me but has to find it.

He also told me a myth about players cars. Their motors were NOT balanced or blueprinted. What they did was take motors off the assembly lines and dyno'd them. If they made between a certain ammount of horsepower they were dubbed 'player motors', then painted the bolts etc, crated up and shipped off.

The pump, if a player's part, is unique to the player's car. See if you can find a casting number on it.

Regarding the engines. That might have been true in the later years, but in the early years, there was a lot of hand assembly.

It might be more the case, in later years, that engines built from the specific mold were just lined up and dyno'd. And the ones that met the range were kept.

But it clearly says in the tech sheets that things like the cam lobes are checked, fuel injectors flow tested, and so forth. As this sport was to promote the cars, GM absolutely did not want engine failures to be a common thing. If you did have an engine failure, GM took it and checked it. Often it was the case teams were trying to squeak a few extra HP out of the cars and would run it with a litre less oil so as to not splash the crank.

I trust the people in GM that I spoke too. They weren't just any old engine off the assembly line.

There is a guy in BC with an 87 TA. He rebuild the motor and was surprized to find that each connecting rod was marked with it's weight. That is certainly a sign that GM was blue printing.

Hey Mark,

Passed on the info to my neighbour, dunno if he'll call or not.

As per the pump, forgot to check before I handed it all off to Mike (IROCNJunk). If you want it lemme know as it's still mine-ish, just at Mikes shop.

If you can, check it out. It's been a bit of a mystery what the pump came off of. It is a lower volume pump than a stock f-body. IT was used to reduce fluid temps. I also heard in parking lots it might not have enough pressure under low rpm turns.
